Double win on World Environment Day

It was a hard fight, but Shoalhaven’s Greens-led Council voted for two important measures to mark World Environment Day on Monday.

Amendments to the 45 Degree Rule allowing Council oversight on tree removal are aimed at preventing unnecessary and indiscriminate tree removal. This will give Council some control in ensuring our region has a safe urban tree canopy.

Council also voted to be allowed to withdraw its application for Biodiversity Certification for Halloran’s proposed housing subdivision in Callala Bay, protecting the habitat or the resident Greater Glider and other species.
