Takesa Frank is leading the Shoalhaven Greens Ward 3 ticket for the next election in September.

Takesa Frank is the lead Greens candidate in Ward 3 and is also hoping to be the first aboriginal woman elected to Council – as crazy as that seems! Takesa is well known for her work protecting the native forest in her area and in 2023 was awarded the prestigious Bob Brown Foundation’s Young Environmentalist of the Year award.

“Over the years, I’ve championed causes such as protecting native forests, advocating for Aboriginal Sacred Sites, promoting youth mental well-being, and fostering opportunities for young people in regional areas,” she says.

“I am dedicated to advocating for the interests of young people and the environment. By running as a candidate for the Shoalhaven City Council, I aim to amplify the voices of our youth and contribute to building a better, more representative community.”

Supporting Takesa on the Ward 3 team is former senior public servant, Debbie Killian who has a strong background in community services.

Jorj Lowrey, founder of Manyana Matters, and a businesswoman with side gigs in everything from snake handling to piloting a hang glider pilot, is number 3 on the ticket.

And rounding out the team is Sue Taylor (left), a retired teacher whose work has focused on at-risk students.

And finally, mayoral candidate, Kaye Gartner has a background in healthcare along with business and management experience to ensure Council is run responsibly and effectively.
