Cate Faehrmann’s bill to ban coal and gas on the Liverpool Plains was set to be debated and voted on tomorrow, but we’ve just heard that the Liberal/National Government is in conversation with Labor to send it to an Inquiry instead to avoid voting on it during the Upper Hunter by-election.

Yep. This is nothing but pure cowardice and politics at its worst. Can you help get the word out by sharing the post on Facebook and then take a few minutes to call the Upper House Leaders of each party to tell them to support the bill?
After more than 12 years of the spectre of coal and gas hanging over their heads and a massive community campaign, the National Party finally announced a few weeks ago that there will be no more coal and gas on the highly fertile Liverpool Plains.
But they’re yet to put their money where their mouth is and legislate it once and for all. Greens NSW have a bill before the NSW Upper House that can be voted on tomorrow so let’s make sure the politicians blocking action know that the community wants action now not further delay.
Call the Leaders of the National, Liberal and Labor parties now and tell them:
- Don’t send the bill to ban coal & gas on the Liverpool Plains to an Inquiry
- Let it be debated and voted on tomorrow, and
- Vote Yes to the bill!
Remember to share the post if you’re on Facebook and comment to let Cate know how your phone calls go.
We’ll share updates on the Shoalhaven Greens Facebook as soon as we hear more.
Thank you!
